17/1 Update

We have had a group brain storming session today where we have been creating endings to our film.

* We believe to have come up with TWO possible endings for our film.

* The endings had to meet a criteria that woudl mean theyw ould enable the film to make sense and add a point to our male protagonists presence.

POSSIBLE ENDING #1

* We use the footage we currently have and do not go our re-shoot any more material

* We write a monologue that can ride over the top of our piece throughout.

* This v/o monologue will display how he analyses people, thinks the worst in people and maybe displays prejudice towards them.

E.G: When our male protagonist sees our female character walk past he may imagine: 'Wearing a cross, and holding herself in her coat, looks like she has something to hide.' This could then link into her being a pregnant Christian teen and how she has to hide the pregnancy from her parents.

* The ending would result in an epiphany for the male protagonist. As he walks away he seems insecure as he starts to realise that people may in turn be judging him. He realises how wrong his prejudice was.

POSSIBLE ENDING #2

* We take Aidan (playing our male protagonist) and recruite a 5th actor (to play the part of male protagonist deaf mute friend) down to our main location, Brighton.

* We film a concluding scene where we see our 5th actor walk up to Aidan and after seeing 4 other characters previous walk past the audience start to perceive this will lead to another back story.

* However this new characters walks towards our male protagonist and starts using sign language to him. As Aidan responds we realise that he is actually a deaf mute having to use sign language to communicate.

* The audience have actually made assumptions themselves (much as he does throughout the film) that after hearing his v/o throught that he can actually talk. However when met with the fact that he is a deaf mute we too realise the audience have made assumptions about his character.

IN CONCLUSION!
These two endings both could work for our film and we have decided to continue editing our film as to use the first ending but next week film the second ending so that after filming we then have both recorded endings. This enables us the most scope with our film and to make sure it can work to it's best potential.

  1. so, in version two, it has nothing to do with the fact that he has a developed 6th sense?

  2. Our original idea did consist of our male protagonist having a 6th sense but this was scrapped in the early stages. In both endings he is just imagining other people's life stories.
