Audience Feedback!

I conducted some audience feedback research to find out what people thought of the plot for our short film. (Click the link for an example of an online audience feedback form for the Diana Wortham Theatre)

Some of the research was done in person some was conducted over social netowrking sites...

FEEDBACK #1

Do you think the concept of this film was original?

Yes, I really like the idea of being able to imagine other people’s hidden lives. I thought some of the characters stories were a bit cliché though.

Do you think the idea was more suited to a longer feature film?

It’s a big idea but if the stories are short and simple then I can’t see why not

 Did you like the ending?

I think it ties it up nicely

What would you change about the idea?

Maybe he could talk to some of the characters instead of just watching them

How did the idea make you feel?

Intrigued, I’d like to see the finished film!

 FEEDBACK #2

Do you think the concept of this film was original?

"Not really… it seems a bit pointless really"

Do you think the idea was more suited to a longer feature film?

 "I wouldn’t really know"

 Did you like the ending?

"I did actually but I still didn’t feel it gave much point to the film"

What would you change about the idea?

"Much less confusing, it’s all over the place… a simpler story"

How did the idea make you feel?

"Still not sure I fully understand it"

FEEDBACK #3

Do you think the concept of this film was original?

"I do, it sounds quite dark …I like that he has a hidden story too!"

Do you think the idea was more suited to a longer feature film?

"No I think it could work if it’s short and snappy it’ll have good impact"

 Did you like the ending?

"Yes I think it’s something the audience won’t suspect!"

What would you change about the idea?

"If I had to change something it would be the setting… Why would a pregnant Christian teen be walking by the seaside?" (Laughs)

How did the idea make you feel?

"It’s kind of dark so I guess I’ll be scared just in case someone can know my hidden secrets!"

 FEEDBACK #4

Do you think the concept of this film was original?

It confuses me a bit …I’m not sure you’ve thought this through …will everyone will understand it

Do you think the idea was more suited to a longer feature film?

I think so, it’d need to definitely be longer than 5 minutes in order to fully get across what you’re trying to say

 Did you like the ending?

I like that his hidden trouble is that he is a mute …but I think you could maybe have seen a section of HIS life as well as the other characters

What would you change about the idea?

Needs to be much more straighter forward! Will an audience be able to cope with all these scene changes in 5 minutes?

How did the idea make you feel?

It’s got potential but maybe not the kind of story to be used in a short film!

OUR JUDGEMENT

*  would say that despite the criticisms in some feedback these will help us in the planning and construction of our film.

* The main issues were with the plot being too confusing or complicated so we need to make sure that our film plot is elaborated and made clear to our audience.

  1. to make the most of this, it needs to become incorporated. If you can show how this has influenced you, it will be far better than simply a string of comments that you ignore. In the real world, you should be influenced by what your audience are telling you and it should give you real food for thought! Try to demonstrate this if you can.
